Hello everyone and happy Monday! I am working hard on bringing you the next installment in the Guide to Entertaining Series. In the meantime, I want to do something a little different today. I thought I would let you inside my home and show you my (itty bitty) home office.
Last week was a rough week with the fires raging in Northern California (where I grew up) and I was busy hosting my parents at my house to keep them away from the dangerous air closer to the fires and consumed with keeping tabs on the status of things and on friends who live in the fire zones. As such, I have fallen a bit behind in my grand plans. Life happens, right?
Things finally started to settle yesterday – my parents were able to return home and I had some time to regroup. I decided to use that time rearranging my office and cleaning it. Can any of you relate? When I am stressed or before I dive into a big project I always need to take time to clean, organize, and make sure things are visually appealing and functional for me before I can begin. Do any of you do this? The process always clears my head and allows me to get my mind ready to focus.
If you are anything like me, you like to look at people’s spaces. So, I thought I would share with you some pictures of my office space. A little background first.
Some years ago we converted our garage into a “playroom/mudroom/mini gym/office for me/dish storage/and more” room. If you are interested, I can do a post on all of that one day. The thing you need to know for this post is that our garage now serves about a dozen different functions, so my office space is quite small and is surrounded by all the other spaces.
Let’s start with the two main functional and visual furniture pieces. I bought a used desk and hutch at a consignment center a few years ago and made them over (amazing what some wallpaper and paint will do for things, right?).
